Sound and company
Nine everyday moments around music, and what would make each one a little easier.
I DJ, and most of these came out of nights playing music with friends. Each one starts with a moment with other people. It might be an afternoon in the park, a night in, or a set you want to remember. Something in that moment feels a little awkward, and I’ve been curious about what would have to exist for that to go away.
Each one starts with the people, then how it fits into an ordinary day, and then what would actually run underneath.
The four movements
Being together, keeping something, the gear, and catching an idea.
- 01 In the room Three ways to share music with the people who are actually there, without pushing it on anyone who isn’t.
- 02 Something to keep A set receipt a friend can check, and a listening room that disappears when you close it.
- 03 The gear and the thinking Knobs and faders that drive software, and a set planner that runs on your own machine with your own music.
- 04 Catching it Voice journaling that opens instantly, and a helper that sorts a walking thought before you get home.
The payoff
What all of it would add up to.
